Last month I got to try shooting on the Ektar 100 (120mm) for the first time.
I came across this film stock at FilmNeverDie in Melbourne CBD, a few weeks prior to Gorak Photo’s monthly photo walk in June. The photo walk was a perfect opportunity to try this new film, so I enjoyed snapping some images at Abbotsford Convent, in Abbotsford, VIC on my humble medium format camera. Feel free to take a look at the images below to see what this film helped produce.
Main Takeaway: Greens & Reds
One main takeaway from shooting this film (at box speed) is that this film stock makes greens and reds pop. As you can see in the photos directly below, the image on the left is a non-edited image from the Ektar 100 (120mm), and the right side shows the photo post-editing. For me the greens and reds are a bit too saturated. As a softer, warm-toned shooter it isn’t my current go-to stock. Thus said, my photographer friend recommended shooting the film on a different setting so please be ready for an updated post.
